Mountian Top Experience

Posted by Rev. Sarah Dennis on

“Six days later, Jesus took with him Peter and James and his brother John and led them up a high mountain”
- Matthew 17:1

Have you ever had a mountain top experience? One of those times when your faith felt so alive to you that you did not even have words to express. Although we cannot stay in those mountain-top places, we carry them with us, and they become tentpoles for us when we need to remember why we choose this life of faith.

In Student Ministry, mountain top experiences often happen at Winter Retreat, or summer mission trips, or one of the other trips we do. We desire deeply to create spaces for students to experience and know the love God has for them, to feel filled with God’s Goodness, and the equip students for a life of faith that goes beyond the experience of faith. Times when they are adults wondering why they choose this life of faith, they can look back and remember.

And while these trips are incredible, they are also costly. We never want any student to not get an opportunity to have a mountain top experience, to feel the love of Christ surround them and their community and to worship simply because they could not afford to. So, each year we hold an event designed to give people in our congregation an opportunity to support students. And like most things in Student Ministry, our event is designed with purpose at the center and fun all around. We invite you to join us for our “FUN”raiser on February 26, 2023. Shortly after our group of confirmands say yes to joining our church on its mission, we will gather in the North Gym for lunch, a silent auction, a variety show and so much more. You will have an opportunity to support our ministry and have fun while doing it. You can come alone, with your family or get a whole table and invite friends. It will be an afternoon you don’t want to miss. Grab your ticket here.

I hope that you have had a mountain-top experience, and that it has been an experience you have remembered over the years as you continue to walk this road of faith. And I am deeply grateful for the ways in which this congregation continues to support our students as they journey down this road as well.

See you are the party!
