Welcome to University Kids—a ministry for kids and their families! We exist to glorify God by partnering with parents and families to develop lifelong followers of Jesus Christ. And, we have lots of fun!
On Sunday mornings, the Atrium on the South side of the campus is alive with busy little bodies and lots of energy—and we love it! If you are new, please come to the Children’s Welcome Desk where staff and volunteers look forward to meeting you and your family and helping you find just the right spot for everyone!
9:30-10:30am, Children’s Building, South Side of Campus
We offer Sunday School classes for toddler, preschool, and grade school children at 9:30am. We use The Gospel Project for Kids curriculum because we believe it helps kids learn about God’s BIG story—His passionate pursuit of His people throughout the Bible—so that we can understand God’s BIG love for us His children. Every Sunday your children will learn that all of the Bible points back to Jesus Christ and that every story is part of God’s BIG story.
11am-12pm, Children’s Building, South Side of Campus
This program is for children 3 years-kinder. In First Worship, children learn the elements of worship in hopes that very soon they will be ready to attend worship services with their families.
Our belief at University United Methodist Church is that children best learn about God and how to worship Him by experiencing worship with their families. For this reason, we offer Sunday school at 9:30am only and encourage families to worship together at the 11am service.
There is childcare available for children under 3 at 11am.
Wednesday Night Kids
Wednesday nights, beginning August 30, 6:15-7:45pm, McCreless Gym, South Side of Campus
Modeled after the church found in Acts 2:44-47, Wednesday Night Kids will create a community for 3rd-5th graders to lean in to as they encounter the world outside of their church. Using the “Believe Kids’ Edition” curriculum, kids will have the opportunity to engage in this community by playing organized games, memorizing scripture, hearing a lesson in large group setting and diving deeper in to knowing Jesus in smaller peer groups with friends. We will also have a service opportunity each month, during which our Wednesday Night Kids will pack small parcels of food to benefit Locke Hill Elementary students who have been identified as food insecure, in a developing program called kidpack.
Through Wednesday Night Kids at University, we pray kids grow in Biblical community that leads to knowing Jesus, having time with likeminded friends and growing in service to our Creator and community. Our goal is to create a space for kids to begin understanding God’s vision for them and to learn how to practice their faith purposefully, passionately and creatively. And of course, we will be having lots of fun along the way! Please join us in this exciting time as we grow in community on this soil God has blessed us with and become agents of His love to the surrounding area!
Wednesday Night Kids Jr.
Wednesday nights, beginning August 30, 6:15-7:45pm, First Floor of Children's Building, South Side of Campus
Also enriched with the “Believe: Children’s Curriculum,” childcare will be provided for kids grades K – 2nd. Using the Believe Storybook, kids will discover and be inspired by key principles of how to think, act and be like Jesus through 60 Old and New Testament stories!
We have a variety of different opportunities for your children to get involved in the music ministry at University. For more information about children's choir and handchimes visit our Traditional Music Ministry Page.
