Camanchaj, Guatemala

This will be the 10th year that University has sponsored an eye surgery mission trip to a small Methodist church clinic in Camanchaj, Guatemala. The team, consisting of 17 members, traveled to Guatemala in February of 2017. After one day of evaluating 80 to 100 patients, our two eye surgeons operated for four days to remove cataracts and to correct eye muscle problems in children. Our group is one of the very, very few mission teams to do eye surgery on young children. The impoverished Mayan population could not afford any of these eye surgery procedures if it were not for mission teams like ours and the generous support of the congregation.
