Bishop Janice Riggle Huie, Bishop of the Texas Annual Conference and Interim Bishop of Record for the Rio Texas Annual Conference has formally announced two clergy appointments, effective July 1, that are significant to our congregational life.
First, Bishop Huie is appointing Rev. Ben Trammell as Lead Pastor for University United Methodist Church. Ben, his wife Holly, and their three young children currently serve in the Texas Annual Conference, where Ben is Lead Pastor of Faith United Methodist Church in Richmond. The Pastor-Parish Relations Committee has met Ben and Holly, have enthusiastically affirmed the decision of the Bishop, and will shortly begin to communicate plans for welcoming the Trammell family into the congregation.
Second, Bishop Huie is appointing me as Directing Pastor for Clear Lake United Methodist Church, located in the Bay Area of Houston near Johnson Space Center. Lydia and I met with Clear Lake's Staff-Parish Relations Committee last night, where we were warmly welcomed and affirmed.
The University Pastor-Parish Relations Committee will be meeting next week and will shortly thereafter be communicating the formal ways by which the Anderson family and University will be wishing each other Godspeed.
University United Methodist thanks Bishop Huie, District Superintendent Carl Rohlfs, and the Cabinets of both the Rio Texas and Texas Annual Conferences for their leadership in this upcoming time of transitions.
