Prayers of and for couples in our church
Luke 10:27 – You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.
How incredibly blessed we are that God has created us for loving relationship. In knowing God we are strengthened in our ability to love ourselves and others. In knowing ourselves and others lay the opportunity for loving God more deeply. Being a couple, two people joined with intent through commitment, we can experience God’s invitation into ever deepening love and grace with one another.
Such understanding is not automatic and it does not come without effort. It is kindled through patience and kindness, wisdom and acceptance, a willingness to listen, hear and understand, and through prayer.
Becoming a couple does not take place in a vacuum. Couples are blessed through the examples of caring, support and affirmation modeled in the community of faith. Communities of faith bless and enrich couples through, patience and kindness, wisdom and acceptance, a willingness to listen, hear and understand through prayer.
On this day let us lift up in prayer the couples we know. May we pray that they continue to grow in love of God and love of each other.
