Choirs

Chancel Choir - Wednesdays, 6:30-7:45pm
Contact: Irene Morris at Irene@theu.org
We are a diverse and dedicated group of volunteers.  We're mostly people who have had some singing experience in the past, but it is not a requirement!  No audition is necessary.  We provide choral music for at least one worship service in the Sanctuary almost every Sunday in addition to occasional special services.  We rehearse on the south side of campus in room 2008 Wednesday nights from 6:30-7:45pm with shorter rehearsals in the summer months and a break in July.

Sanctuary Choir - Wednesdays, 7:45-8:30pm
Contact: Mary McKay at Mary@theu.org
We're a group of singers looking for an over and above challenge and commitment.  We sing for Communion Sundays and also sing for special seasonal worship services.  Participation in the Chancel Choir is highly recommended! Rehearsals are September - May on the south side of campus in room 2008.

Silver Bucket Singers - Mondays, 1:30-2:30pm
Contact: Linda Smith at Linda.Smith@theu.org
Do you love singing?  You're welcome to participate with us!  We sing most often for other senior adult activities, both at the church and in the community.  This group practices every week on the south side of campus in room 2011. Don't worry, we take breaks around holidays and in the summer!

Orchestra

University Orchestra - Mondays, 7-8:30pm
Join us if you have high school level playing experience or higher.  No audition is necessary to be in the orchestra unless you're not yet in high school.  We provide instrumental music for worship that honors the musical gifts with which God has blessed us.  We are asked to commit to playing in two worship services on selected Sundays and at special seasonal services.  These dates are scheduled well in advance. This ensemble meets from September through May in the Sanctuary.

Handbell Choirs

Contact Linda Smith at Linda.Smith@theu.org
There are three adult handbell choirs that meet once a week.  Each of the groups sets its own schedule, but rings generally from mid-September through mid-May, and all groups rehearse on the south side of campus in room 2002. Ringers need to have some ability to read music and rhythm skills are especially important.  Ringers are placed in groups according to their ability and their schedule needs.  We ring in Sunday worship a few times a year and often go out into the community to play.

Agape Ringers - Tuesdays, 6-7pm
Lois Fritze Handbell Choir - Tuesdays, 7-8:30pm
Jubilee Bells - Thursdays, 7:15-8:30pm

Silver Belles
Contact Linda Smith at Linda.Smith@theu.org
One of two groups designed for retired persons who value fellowship and musical improvement more than precision and perfection. Most folks have prior music experience (piano lessons as a child, singing in a choir, etc.) but some come brand new to music and can learn to ring at least one chime successfully in the group.  The schedule is shorter and there is a break in the summer.
