Welcome to University
Where are you located?
Where do I park?
Our church is located on the corner of Vance Jackson and De Zavala. We have buildings on both sides of De Zavala. There is guest parking conveniently located just inside the entrance of our parking lots on both sides of the street. If it is a particularly busy Sunday and the visitor spots are all full, note that we have overflow parking at surrounding parking lots including Locke Hill Elementary School and Chick-fil-A.
What if I have children?
Children are central to the ministry of University United Methodist Church. At The U, children are always welcome in worship at all of our weekly services. We provide activity bags at the entrances to both worship venues and many of our services include special children's sermons. We also provide Sunday School for all ages at 9:30.
Children's Sunday School is located on the south side of our campus (5084 De Zavala). Our buildings are BIG! Come in any entrance and ask for the Atrium - that's where you'll find our Children's Welcome Area. From there, one of our volunteers or staff members will help you find the right place to go.
NURSERY For the little ones, there are nurseries for children 2 months old to 2 years old both on the south side of De Zavala (in the Children's area) and on the north side (just outside the Worship Center) during the 9:30 and 11 worship hours.
What should I wear?
University has two different worship venues: Traditional Worship gathers in our Sanctuary on the south side of De Zavala. This is a more formal service, however, dress varies. You will see some of our members in suits and dresses and many in jeans and casual shirts. Contemporary Worship gathers in our multi-purpose space (Worship Center) on the north side of De Zavala. The attire is typically more casual - jeans or shorts and t-shirts. However, some still feel more comfortable in suits and dresses. It is truly "come as you are."
When should I arrive?
Our first worship service is a Traditional one and takes place in the Sanctuary at 8:15. Our 9:30 and 11am hours are the most attended. Because of the size of our campus, we would suggest arriving up to 30 minutes before the service time. If you are early, don't worry, that will give you time to get some coffee, donuts and tacos!
